Rebel Born was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. When I received a copy from Net Galley I literally did a happy dance.
This story takes place about a month after Traitor Born and a whole lot has happened but Roselle does not remember what has happened. She has been in a dream so. tate and all the sudden there was a glitch of some kind. From there the story really gets started. Crow is back and as you know is the big baddie of the series. He has gone way overboard and here comes Roselle and company to save the day. So many old faces are back (Reykin!!!) but also we meet some new (Cherno is one of my new faves of the series) You also find out Roselle really can sticketh. My biggest complaint and why give it 4 stars is because the ending seemed so rush. I can't really say the reasoning without huge spoilers but it i wish more was spent on the end and not as much on the build up.
Overall Bartol did a superb job concluding Roselle's story although there is always room for more I am very satisfied where it ended and I think everyone will be ecstatic with the ending.
Meet this brave young women who is the LAST hope out of all the creatures in this world, to save it. And nobody likes the fact that it is a weak, pathetic human. Atlas is a seeming normal human, who lost her mother and seems like her world feel apart in the first few chapters of her books, all because of her father. But it doesn't stop there. She learns of another world that she has become unwilling part of.
When she is whisked away after seeing her friend ripped in half, she meets Kane. A very sexy looking guy, who throws her a$$ out the window. Yes, out the window. All she knows is that Sadie sent her to him, and he is supposed to keep her safe. Not the way to start that off. But she slowly learns more and more of why all this stuff is happening to her, and what all the consequences of her actions will be and she still accepts. To save everyone. This author is new to me, and I love her. I love how descriptive she gets in some spots, and I have one clicked her next book to come out in this series because I have to read more. When the world for the most part is against you, and you are in love with the one demon you should not, and the angels seem shifty. You don't cry, you suck it up and get moving. Only so much time to save the world and all. All because boys will be boys.
deal with no caps, i'm lazy today
OK let me start off with, I will rarely one click the next book, especially if it is more that 1.99, but i couldn't do that. The cliffhanger (which this author is known to do at the end of the books) has me so hooked, i had to. I like how the backstory was introduced through out the story so that it wasn't to much all at once. I also like the fact that most supernaturals do not like the fact that this last chance rest on the shoulder of this weak, pathetic looking human girl. But as the demon is slowing realizing, humans are more than what they appear. I like the fact that this whole book is based on two sons, who just can't seem to get along. (sounds like my boys, actually, if my boys were twins, i could see them being like this, urg, boys, i love them though) Two so different people with what they want to do to this world, and a father who just can't seem to understand why they feel that way. well i guess he can, but having fun while watching your children hash it out, is also lots of fun. well i guess when lots of lives are on the line, not so much but, hey, gotta have fun as a god somehow. anywho.
I like how when she is explained a major plot point. she repeats it back but in simpler terms. just so that the reader gets it. i also love how i can not guess what is going to happen next. you think the author will go one way, but nope, there is a left curve ball, roll with the flow now. hence being thrown out the window. didn't see that coming. there is just so much about this book series that is going to be amazing that i can not wait fir the next book in a couple of days. to know that even though they lost one angel already, and the most dangerous demon in the entire universe, she just happens to be in love with.
what make their love so interesting to me is, that one: when she said yes to the quest (trademarking that) and when the last thing she needs to complete said quest, is a heart. does that mean her heart, heart of someone she loves?? because when you get all the items together (if you can get them all), they are supposed to make you Immortal. so if she kills herself, wont she still survive? maybe i read it wrong. who knows. but more interesting is that fact this last time to try and save the world, because no one else has succeed from the rest of the supernatural community. They all have been based of off a deadly sin. and this time it is seduction. maybe this demon is playing her, making her fall in love. Maybe it is part of the quest, that he to has feelings because the father wants to save his precious humans. maybe it is all a ploy. and the author is just messing with our heads. although, i think the demon is not legit doing this on purpose, but it is a demon. love or not. sometimes we just don't have a choice.
so if you haven't check this one out. It was very funny. the main character is quick to snap back and i love it. I am just like that, and love to find it in characters in books.
So I got this book for free from Amazon, and was like, huh, well seems interesting enough, lets see what becomes of this. And it wasn't half bad. I like the build up and the base that was established with this book. But you can't expect to much back story when they wake with out remembering who you are or where you are. But the author did a great job of still giving me enough to go on. And to keep me interested in the next book for sure. I have no idea how I can relate to this type of situation but the author did a good job of putting me in the head of these people and even better with unknown powers to each. Although they do know their powers, they still don't know if it is natural, or if they are aliens from another planet. Heck, if I woke up with no memory I would want to think that I was from a different planet like Superman. Can't be that far fetched. All though the book did seem to drag a little, it was necessary for the development of the book series. Next book to come after a while. It is on my TBRL on goodreads now. So as always, below is filled with spoilers and my personal rants and raves of the books. So its FREE as of today on amazon, go get it, check it out.
Alright, so this book was pretty good as stated from above. What I find weird is that only one person from this group of 8 seems to have woke up differently. Wonder if that has anything to do with the part of her memory loss. But waking up with no memories and nothing around you would scare the crap out of me. And to have this gut feeling to go one way or another. Well at least that never let her down. But to be able to judge peoples characters by the "clouds" (aura) on a person would be an amazing gift to have. I just hope that she is reading them properly. Since she didn't have any memories, I hope that she is right with it all. When she meets the group, I think I would of bailed on that car ride. Even if their clouds were different. They just seemed really weird to be in that car ride with. What is even more weird to me, is that most of this group is unwilling and not really seeming interested in finding out who they are. I would be filled with so many questions and would want to know, but I guess when you are reminded that you are not filled as a missing person or that your names are common, doesn't really help. But still. I am glad they all found each other, this group of misfits, and that they got some answers and the end of this book. I do really like the open communication that this group seems to have. More often than not, in a group with this many main characters, doesn't always seem to happen, but the author said it best, (pg. 163) "Control isn't something we have much of." I love that they work as one, and not a dictatorship like most seem to be. over all, a solid 4/5 flying flaming weasels from me. Oh and I absolutely love the Ranch. except creepy dude. I love the idea, I love the owners, and if this ever happens to me. I hope that I land on a place like this, sounded so lovely. (just got back from Colorado in Nov) And I totally wanna bit@h slap Amber.
Official Release! Hear the story of Red and her adventure to help Captain Hook in this Audible version of "Red's Tangled Tale."
“Red wasn't your average girl. Discover the real story of Little Red Riding Hood." ~ Red's Tangled Tale
Everyone knows the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Well, at least they think they do. History would have many believe Red was a naïve little girl who brought treats to her grandmother in the dark of the forest. History had it wrong.
After the curse of the wolves came to Timbergard, Red’s father was the only soul brave enough to enter Blakx Forest. However, when the wolves claimed his life, his young daughter took up his bow and began hunting the beasts to fill her need for revenge.
When Captain Hook shows up in the village in search of the rare burning ash that lies on the far borders of the cursed forest, Red agrees to help get him safely through the dangerous land.
The trek through the forest becomes precarious when the group is cornered by a pack of wolves. Red is forced to make a decision that will alter the lives of everyone, including individuals she has yet to meet.
Suzanna Lynn has outdone herself again with the retelling of the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Not only does she bring back the much loved (in my mind) Captain Jameson Shaw aka Captain Hook but she also introduces us to many other fairy tale characters. This story is adventurous and fun plus a quick but amazing read / listen. Plus add James Darcy as a narrator and it makes the story that much better. I highly recommend this series.

The Leftover by Brooke Williams is adorable. It is told between Megan Malone a sweet super innocent loner and Cane Trevino a rejected reality star who has had his heart broken on television.
This book is Rom Com at its finest. Megan is talked into being on a reality show The Leftover (kind of a local Surviver type show) after her sister is unable to participate due to pregnancy. Megan is not really outdoorsy and socially awkward. She works from home and stays to her self and never even had a relationship. Although her character is supposed to be innocent Megan at times was almost too innocent based on her age. I had trouble remembering she was nearly 30 abased on her experience level with the opposite sex (she has never even been kissed) Although her character was so funny and I can tell the show really made her be someone else and find more of herself. She was a great character to get to know and so easily loved. Williams did a great job bringing her quirks and other insecurities to life and turned her into an awesome BFF character.
Now onto Cane. His character isn't as innocent but from his inner dialogue he almost is to perfect. Not many books are written where the male character falls in love easily. It was a big change from what i am used too. Although despite that his character was so sweet and would make a cute book boyfriend for quiet shy Megan.
Both Cane and Megan together though you can definitely tell the chemistry and they do not even deny their attraction. It was refreshing to see the characters did not skirt around the issue just came out and said it maybe wondered a little about reality vs show but still all in all they knew they liked each other just a few road blocks like any relationship.
If you are looking for a super fun, easy, clean read this is for you.
April Richwine definitely has the voice for quirky Megan. Although I kind of wish the book was done with a male narrator as well but Richwine did not to bad being both. Especially since it was not in 1st person it still worked. She did well making the different character stand out and it was clear and easy to understand. All and all was pretty good.

I hate to start this way but my honest thoughts I was just expecting something fun but nothing really other then that. Well being I am giving this 5 monkeys and not as a fun easy read is saying something. MK Gibson is owed a big round of applause for his characters and the introduction into Jackson Blackwell, The Shadowmaster. After the first page I was already in Lust (we all know Jackson doesn't do love) with this book. He is an egomaniac and thinks he is above everyone. Heck how else would be "They Villian" and actually advised villains from other realms. Normally that would be a turn off but the internal dialogue as well as his interactions with all the people around makes him own the title. This is forth wall breaking at its greatest. He is someone who you are supposed to hate but cannot stop listening to and he will cringe hearing this but really actually like (even though he is manipulating me maybe). I know i usually wait for the audiobook portion towards the end but I am going to pull a Jackson and mix it in with this review. Because I cannot say how much the narration for this book was perfectly cast. I hope Jeffrey Kafer earns an award he had the perfect twist of ego, no nonsenese, and pure ass personality that Jackson has and more. I know the writing is amazing but Kafer's interpretation was spot on. I can feel I am really listening to Jackson from his dimension and loving to hate him.
I can finish off by saying if you haven't read Villians Rule you are missing out. Smart and quirky this is absolutely amazing. Book 2 I cannot wait.
As a side note if you don't want different kind of fantasy realms being made fun of then this isn't for you.

After losing so much, Amber clings to the one precious person she has left, and vows to sacrifice everything to help save the Earth.
Remy Haines is a lover, not a fighter, so when she finds herself in enemy territory, expected to feign allegiance while gathering intel for the rebel cause, she’s never been more out of her element. Tensions only increase when her feelings for Jacob “Tater” Tate won’t go away, and the enemy’s leader takes an interest in her.
