Most people see Sawyer Cargill as a gorgeous but cocky guy who doesn’t take anything seriously including the trail of hearts he’s left behind.

But there’s so much more beyond the jokes and the sexual innuendos; behind the mask he so carefully wears. It’s in the way he takes care of others, including me. It’s in the glimpses of the pain he carries in his soul.

I see him for who he really is. I know his heart is capable of changing from thorns and ice to love and flame.

It’s more than a little hero worship. I’m in love with him.

But, I’m not the only point of this triangle. Someone else who is important to us loves him too. How can there be joy if he chooses me when I know the other person will be hurt?

Together he and I will have to figure that out because when I have him, I won’t let him go.

Eric’s pulse raced at the black and blue mark, shaped like fingers, which Lisa attempted to cover. Clenching his teeth, he averted his gaze. Based on the size of the marks, a man had done it. Was she attacked? A boyfriend? Perhaps that was why she came to Sweetwater, to hide from an abusive husband. He reached out for a muffin, discreetly scanning her left hand. No wedding ring. Not even a tan line.
This was none of his business. Mom had decided to take on this venture, as insane as it was. Starting a business with a woman that she’d never met outside of cyberspace.
His mother had been right about one thing, though. Lisa Mortan was beautiful. Stuffing another muffin into his mouth, he concentrated on the warm, butter-nutty flavor and forced the thought of Lisa and her light floral fragrance from his mind.
“Thanks so much for helping unpack all of our merchandise,” Lisa said, her voice soft yet not wimpy or chirpy.
“My pleasure. It’s kept Mom busy…which is a good thing. The idle hands of an energetic woman, particularly when it’s your mother, are dangerous,” he teased.
His mother brought the coffee pot to the table. “Lisa just arrived from New York. Seeing as how she’s new in town, perhaps we could all get together for dinner and get to know each other better.”
“I need to return to the office.” Eric stood and nodded to Lisa, attempting to ignore her full lips, and big bright eyes. She pushed from the table to stand as well and her coat fell open, revealing the longest legs he’d ever seen. The heels she wore only accentuated every inch of them. Straight chestnut colored hair completed the look, shining under the Halogen pot lights he’d installed last week. “It was a pleasure, but I’m afraid I have a client meeting tonight. Don’t let Mom work you too hard.”
His mother narrowed her eyes with that go-ahead-and-run-away-coward look she’d perfected. Of course, even he had to admit she was right, but it didn’t matter. The last thing he wanted was a woman in his life. Not after what happened with his last girlfriend.
“I’ll walk you out,” his mother offered.
He thought about dissuading her, but she wouldn’t listen anyway. With one last glance at the beauty standing in the middle of the kitchen, he bolted, with a promise to bury himself in work and stay away from Lisa Mortan.
“I told you she was beautiful,” his mother whispered.
“Cultured, long legs, smart, and don’t forget educated. Yes, I’ve heard it all. A few times. It doesn’t matter. I’m not interested,” Eric barked. He didn’t mean to be rude, but Judy Gaylord needed a firm hand or she’d take over quick.
“I’m just saying.” His mother shrugged in a careless gesture.
Eric halted at the front door, clutching the handle. “Don’t. I’m not ready. I’m not sure I’ll ever be ready.”
His mother’s small hand rested between his shoulder blades. “It’s been almost two years. It’s time to let her go.”
“No. I-I can’t.” He turned the knob.
“It wasn’t your fault. You need to stop blaming yourself.”
“Yes, it was. I ignored the woman I claimed to love, and when she needed me most, I wasn’t there.”
Judy stepped to his side. “You didn’t know about the baby.”
“That doesn’t matter. What matters is she’s dead. The baby’s dead. There’s nothing else to talk about.” Eric shoved the door open. “I have to go.”

A Bond of Venom and Magic

A Bond of Venom and Magic (The Goddess and the Guardians Book 1) by [Tomlinson, Karen]

If you like Sarah J. Maas, you will love this series. You are taken to a world where magic it practically outlawed. There are evils in the world you can only dream of. You first meet our characters in a tragic setting. When your world flips upside down over night, do you roll with the punches? Who do you trust? Finding out things no one told you your whole life, with earth shattering bombs, and your beloved friends are in moral danger. Do you do as you are told? Or do you rebel? And what is this strange connection to Hugo, the sexy fae warrior that is always around her.

Thoughts as i go along.

omg. being told she is less and undesirable because she is a mix is a load of crap. at least she is taking it with strides, someone who knows how people view them and knows that whatever she says will not change that.

i can understand why her uncle and father never told her about themselves. being part of that major army. being awesome and amazing is more like it. I like how the other army came to save them. what scares me is this queen who steals power from people. and is she giving it to other people, because obviously its OK to use magic if you are in the queens hands, pockets, bed, however you wanna phrase it. but this deep soul connection that was apparently just a myth, has rocketed two friends over one female. one that has this Nexus connection and the other that has lust for her and what she can do. with her world falling down around her, her uncle now leading the army, which way will she go. what powers does she truly have.

I wanna know why, no one really knows wtf is going on with this Nexus connection. I bet the queen is behind all this misinformation. She doesn't like any magic users in her area, unless she controls them. How could all this come to be. I mean there is a weird shield around her, but she is an evil biotch. I mean come one. Who hasn't questioned this. I like how this isn't like common knowledge. its frustrating not knowing why, so hopefully this will be explained more in the future. I wanna know this story.

So Diamond is real special. Like Goddess special. Sweet. I wonder what her powers can do. I hope to see that soon cause that would be amazing to see what her true powers will be. if you haven't started this series, you need to. You will not be disappointed at all. (if you like these kind of stories)

A Bond of Blood and Fire

A Bond of Blood and Fire (The Goddess and the Guardians Book 2) by [Tomlinson, Karen]

For this part of the review, since the book comes out next week, I will not have ANY spoilers in this review. I will post my deeper review, after the book releases. So come back around June 22, that's my b-day, and I will post it than. Maybe put a print giveaway in there to with the launch FINALLY of our Facebook page (delay totally my fault).

This book is just.. wow.. this series is just like sarah j. maas series. The Queen really hates Diamond. The things this evil women can do, with a mere thought, I can not wait until someone kills her. When Diamond is faced with dire situations, who is always on top. Diamond, the Queen, Hugo, the Prince, or the bad guy. The twist and turns this takes you on to an emotional roller coaster that has you questioning the choices they have made. Will Diamond and Hugo finally figure out what this is between them? You have to check out this author if you have not by now. Talk to you guys about this book again on my BIRTHDAY!!!

Cinderella: A Real Life Fairytale by Jamie Brook Thompson

Cinderella Audiobook

Cinderella: A Real Life Fairytale

  • Written by: Jamie Brook Thompson
  •  61 pages
Published March 30th 2017 by Von Kurtis Publishing

I always have hate giving bad reviews for books especially books that are "fun reads" but this book I really struggled with and was very disappointed.  The concept was kind of neat a grease monkey girl meets the guy of her dreams.   The problem is the whole story is kind of odd.  It is supposed to take place in the real world but how everything comes about just doesn't fit.  Cindy Ellis is an orphan who lives with her aunt and uncle and her cousin in a small town.  She works in the garage (replacement for cleaning houses).  The cousin is annoying kind of like the step sister and wants the "prince" Henry and she has a best friend do her hair and makeup kind of like a fairy godmother.
When it started I was expecting high school age but alas they were a bit older.  They just acted so immature.  Usually with these stories I get something a laugh but I struggled.  There were some cute moments but just this book wasn't for me.
     scroll over to see
I really disliked how quickly the relationship progressed especially being a real life story.  You do not go from never talking to them to marrying them in a span of a couple months.  It was also kind of creepy he had his picture in the truck.
I think this book would of been much better maybe if it wasn't so rushed as a novella.

I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review
  • Narrated by: Angie Hickman
  • Length: 2 hrs and 5 mins
  • Unabridged Audiobook
  • Release Date:04-20-17
  • Publisher: Jamie Thompson
Angie Hickman had a great drawl and fit the part of Cindee but she talked way to slow.  I had to increase the speed by 2 because I was having trouble following.  If it wasn't for the speed though I think she is great narrator for this roll.
